Four Windsor-based coaches come together to offer residents of Windsor-Essex an inspiring and motivating day to help them discover how to make their dreams come true in 2012.
WINDSOR, Ontario, Jan 10, 2012– Dedicated to living life to its fullest and motivating others to do the same, lifestyle design coach, Heather Chauvin; intuitive life coach, Jennifer Merritt; heart power coach, Rosemary Heenan; and holistic energy therapist, Kelly Cowan are hosting a one-day Awesomeness Summit on January 28, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WFCU Centre.
Living life to its fullest and realizing your purpose and potential are some of the reasons why the Awesomeness Summit is taking place. “We are born happy and creative, and along the way we lose our sense of self and purpose” says Chauvin, “This is the spark people need to live the life of their dreams—it’s discovering themselves at the core.”
The summit will consist of four key segments:
1) Meditation—Getting Real and Silent With Yourself: During this segment, the audience will be guided through a mindful experience; each participant will experience a real sense of silence and will learn how to look within for life's ‘tricky’ answers;
2) Unleash your Intuition: This segment will be interactive in that participants will be lead through an exercise that will prove to them that their intuition is healthy and strong. They will also be able to witness how their intuition speaks to them, either through visual, audio, sensory, or spontaneous thought.
3) Your Heart Holds the Key to your Awesomeness: This segment will allow people to identify how to tap into their natural gifts and implement these gifts into daily life;
4) Tapping into your Ever-flowing Stream of Wellness: This segment will explore the natural power to heal ourselves.
“Unleashing your awesomeness means living life to its fullest. Realizing that you are not alone. Understanding that every moment is a new chance to do something bold, something you love, and something that will bring you great pleasure and joy in life” says Merritt. “If there is anyone out there that is looking for transformation, this is the event to attend, and now is the time to do it” says Cowan.
The cost for this event is $85 and includes lunch. Registration is required and can be made by calling Heather Chauvin at 519-819-2234, by emailing unleashyourawesomeness@gmail.com, or by registering online at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2706624587/efblike
“The response has been incredible and overwhelming” says Merritt. “There is a serious buzz surrounding this event and we have registrants from all over Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent.”

The Arts Council - Windsor & Region will showcase local artists and crafters at the Riverside Library for 4 consecutive Saturdays when its annual Fall art show kicks off again on November 5, 2011.
The annual event will run in time to give the public great ideas for locally made gifts for the holiday season. Each week will feature a mix of area artists and crafters selling a variety of handmade goods including paintings, knitted items, photography, ceramics, native crafts, cards and jewellery.
Artisans will be set up in the library’s event room and organizers are hoping to see some familiar faces as well as extend their reach to families who use the library on Saturday, the building’s busiest day. The organizer of the event, Philippa von Ziegenweidt, who is an area resident and a director with the Arts Council, believes this is a great way to combine literacy and the arts.
“There are few community meeting places left in Riverside, and the library is a natural fit,” says von Ziegenweidt, “This is an exciting way for the Riverside community to see Windsor’s artistic side without having to go far from home.”
“People usually don’t think twice about going to a brand-name store to purchase gifts, but what about picking out some affordable and locally-made one of a kind artwork instead?” asks von Ziegenweidt. She adds that the entire community benefits from a thriving local arts movement.
Date: November 5, 12, 19, 26
Time: 10am to 4pm
Location: 6305 Wyandotte St. E, Windsor (2 blocks east of Jefferson Blvd)
Cost: Free

A startling number of Canadian seniors risk going hungry due to the inability to obtain sufficient food for their household. During September Hunger Action Month, Comfort Keepers® in Windsor and Essex County is asking the community to donation cans of tuna to the STOP Senior Hunger food drive to help local seniors and raise awareness for this growing epidemic that impacts millions of older Canadians trying to remain healthy and independent.
“Hunger Action Month is in September, but seniors go hungry all year,” said Adam Budrewicz, owner/director of the Windsor and Essex County franchise. “We can’t fight every factor affecting hunger, but we can start here in our community by creating awareness about the issue and helping family members become more aware of the signs of hunger and malnutrition.”
Hunger can lead to malnutrition and other serious health problems in seniors. Malnutrition is the result of the body not absorbing enough nutrients due to inaccessibility. Signs of malnutrition may include sudden weight gain or loss, bruising, or dental difficulties, sudden changes in taste, or a general disinterest in eating. For seniors, malnutrition means the potential for increased hospital stays, increased health complications, early entry into assisted living communities and premature death.
In response to a growing need for awareness about senior hunger, the Comfort Keepers system has launched a North American wide campaign called STOP Senior Hunger to create awareness for the importance of a healthy diet for those 65 and over. This senior nutrition campaign aims to help seniors preserve their independence by providing diet and nutrition information, encouragement and necessities.
Please drop off cans of tuna at the Comfort Keepers office located at 3690 Walker Road Suite 1, Windsor, ON N8W 3S7 (can slide them in the mail slot 24 hours a day).
For more information on the local STOP Senior Hunger campaign, please contact your local Comfort Keepers office at (519) 946-1001.
